Eclipse of Damilola (Continuation...)

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU DAMILOLA?
Have you gone Banana’s??
Nengi screamed on the phone, enough for Dami to know how pissed and angry she is with her…
I cannot believe you did this;
I still cannot comprehend the idea of you with him. Arggggggggghh…

Dami remained calm, defenseless, sulking actually…
How could I have missed the signs, (She kept asking herself but couldn’t get to answer)
she thought it was her usual menstrual flow skipping, but she was 6weeks gone and funny enough if it wasn’t for the fever she had and decided to go for a checkup she wouldnt have known..)
Dami was still lost in her own thoughts when she heard a bang on the head set… She came back to reality.. It wasn’t a dream after all..

HOW MANY MONTHS ARE YOU GONE!! And have you spoke to Tonye since that day? She heard Nengi’s voice again.
“6 Weeks” she replied and she found herself stammering, (she doesn’t stutter, she never had), she couldn’t say anything because she doesn’t know where Tonye was, she told Nengi how she didn't need Tonye for her to give birth to her child and take care of the child… Sooner or later her mom will know and the calls, the interrogating and all.

Nengi couldn’t say a word anymore other than "Babe: You know what best to do, but I think your depriving this child from having a father and having the joys of a parent… No man is perfect but you have no idea if this child would change"

She remembered how her dad left her and her mom, her kid sister, how she got home from school and he had packed up all his things, no goodbye’s, no explanation, nothing.. Her father was her everything, even till this moment after death, no man could take his place, she still loved him like ever before, after all, She “Dami” was his mother. Back to reality, she had to clean her apartment and start shopping online for children’s wears, considering going to register for anti-natal, but first she had to tell George, he needs to know all she needed now was support, not criticism from anyone.

Days ran into weeks, weeks into months, Dami grew, she found herself talking to her unborn baby, when she got bored, depressed and most of the time apologizing for making him/her come to life without fatherly support, stubborn as she was she still didn’t tell Tonye.
She Knew were to meet him and all.
After all, George has been the most understanding; he respected her decisions even as he hated the whole idea. She was bored, the movie at home wasn’t helping she needed to go shopping, she wore a white bum short a tank top and flat slippers as she drove down to Shoprite at lekki, she needed some fruits and all, she took her time window shopping and got hooked at a lingerie shop and got herself some tummy tucks “I’ll be needing it in the end ” she thought to herself.

She bought some few and her phone rang the doctor at Dubai called to checkup on how she was doing, and when she’ll be coming over because she was 2weeks due for delivery and they needed to watch her. It was part of the negotiations, hotel and all, besides this is what great business partnership benefits looked like, she wasn’t paying a dime for this and all the other freebies coming in. She totally romanced the thoughts of calling her child “Lucky”, she scoffed at herself, feeling a bit dizzy now, she looked for where she could sit down at least, AAhhh, the pizza place was close, just as she was about to leave the lingerie shop, she dropped on the floor.

JESUS MADAM!!!!!!!!!!! The shop attendant screamed, and people came up to the shop, who’s a doctor here, HELP O!!!!! Someone is dying o!! The girl screamed louder.. Most women were already covering her up, another shouting give her space, she needs air, she shouldn’t be crowded, trust Nigerians, most people where taking pictures and videoing,

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!! (A Male voice barked)
GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, as he lifted her and rushed to his car, the shop assistant following suit, as her second handled the crowd.

Dami woke up two days later, she didn’t know what she was doing in a hospital, drips on her arm, she tried getting up but she heard a voice saying, “Slowly dear, just lay a little bit” please.
She recognized the voice, it was George’s wife..
What I’m I doing here, she asked, my baby!! I hope my baby is fine??
Dami, you fainted and was unconscious for a while, the baby is doing fine, George is coming, he’s been with the doctor, let me call the Doctor.

They all walked in, (George, Doctor and Wifey), He checked her temperature and all, said she’s fine and that she’ll be discharged the next day, he tried explaining to her that it’s okay for some pregnant women to faint, and its normal but dangerous if the woman is alone, apparently the man who brought her here, had checked her last dialed number and it was George so he called him over, paid for her bills and gave his number to call him in 2weeks time, he had a flight to catch that day, he was leaving for a conference.

She said she was hungry and the Doctor said it was okay for her to eat but to take fruits first, Georges wife was already on that, she ate slowly as she did she saw tears running down Maggie’s face (Georges Wife)..

Why are you crying Maggie? Dami asked her..
Dami, woman to woman, babe to babe, sister to sister… if I don’t tell you this then I hate you, you almost lost your life due to your stubbornness, which woman stays alone heavily pregnant?
What if this happened to you in the house and there was no one there to help?
You need someone around you. I cannot imagine George living in this world without you, you know what you mean to him, you know what family means to him, he cried the first time he came to the hospital, seeing you lying down helpless, you broke his heart. He couldn’t tell your Mom or Aunty (Who stays in Lagos), it will break them and you know
Dami, promise you’ll come stay with us before you travel for delivery, what if that guy didn’t rush you here in the first place?
What if he wasn’t there at that moment?
What if.. as she was about to continue, Dami, held her close, kissed her on the check and said
“I Love you Maggie, ” and I promise not to be soo selfish with my life and allow family come in. Besides I’m an Alley Cat... I have 9 lives; I’m not going down without a good fight.
Maggie laughed; you will never change you this Agaracha (stubborn) girl. Make I give you your catfish pepper soup, as she stood up to get the food

Dami went quite, her mind was wondering who this mystery man was… Do men still exist in this part of the world…???

To be continued....
