In Her shoes..

What would you do if you were in her shoes?

Valerie's dream was to meet a man someday that can pass for prince charming yet that will sweep her off her feet, love her and spoil her like silly. You know, the perfect man!

And eventually she got what she wanted. One of those rare men that seems to be perfect in all areas, so perfect you never think it's real. You keep waiting to hear something bad about them, keeping waiting for them to change but never do.

Valerie had a boutique and she makes custom wedding gowns for some of her customers. One morning she tried on a customer's wedding gown and Jerry, her perfect boyfriend, came in to her boutique and saw her wearing the wedding gown. He was carrying a gift, a fine jewelry necklace that he quickly showed her and put on her. Valerie looked at the mirror feeling so happy like it was her wedding day to the perfect man that ever lived! Jerry noticed that.

That evening he took her out and decided to talk to her about their future.

The conversation went like this:

Jerry: I can easily get used to this every night

Val: Why?

Jerry: Because you're a very special lady and you make me so happy.

I know it may seem a little soon to talk about our future but when I saw you this morning in that wedding dress I thought now is a good a time as any.

Valerie was holding her breathe with a broad smile and said “wow". Likely thinking, God, is it finally going to happen for her? Is this perfect man going to propose to her?

Jerry continued: Valerie I'm falling for you and I don't know if you're quite there yet. But I'm certain. I don't want to grow old without you.

Valerie: Jerry I'm falling for you too. I couldn't ask for a more wonderful man.

Jerry: I'm so glad you feel that way.

And they kissed!

He continued again: Now I've been thinking about this long and hard and I need to share it with you a decision I made years ago about marriage, kids. I only bring this up now because earlier I saw the look in your eyes that says you want to get married someday.

Valerie interrupted him: Yeah, it's not today or anything, but eventually.

Jerry continued: I've been married 3 times. After the last one I decided I couldn't endure another unhappy ending. And since I already have 4 children I think I'm done in that area as well. Now I know what's going on in your mind; but hear me out.

If you're willing to share your life with me I'll love to share mine with you forever. I promise to always love you and to be true to you. I just don't want to get married again, to anyone, never.

Valerie drops her head down with obvious disappointment.

Jerry: Talk to me Valerie, IS THIS A DEAL BREAKER?

So Mr. Perfect proposed to Val by telling her he will never propose to her!

If you were in Valerie's shoes, what would you do? Would you break up with that perfect man for you because he will never marry you? Should marriage be the be all and end all of every relationship?

Marriage seem to be the pinnacle of dating, it’s relationship gold. But does it have to be as long as you're happy?
